New home for port cruise

Tourism heritage and culture minister Trevor Holder said in a statement that the Blount line will be the first to offer cruises where passengers will start or end their experience right there in New Brunswick.

The minister warned that this should be a signal to other similar companies that Blount line is also open to their business.

Blount small ship adventures will offer a 10-day tour of the Bay of Fundy on a 98-passengership with stops in Saint Andrews, Grand Manan and Campobello Island.

The announcement by the minister comes on heels of a report by Dillon Consulting Ltd which placed Port Saint john as a well suited home port for expedition-class ships.

This follows an announcement that was made on 18th February by the provincial government to commit $ 100000 a year for the next three years to help port saint john establish a home port by erecting a special gang way and a floating platform to accommodate expedition-class ships.

The Blount services and line ships does fit well within the expedition class of vessels, carrying 98 passengers on seven to sixteen day tours which focuses on unique destinations ventures and educational opportunities.

Peter Gaulton chair of port saint johns board of directors, announced that unlike the average visiting cruise ship the port will not be the first stop for Blount passengers but instead passengers will experience the city before the cruise port becomes a  world class port  gateway to the region’s natural wonders.

Nancy Blount, President of Blount Small Ship Adventures announced that they were thrilled to announce the partnership and their continued commitment to New Brunswick and port of Saint John.

She also announced that they have already been operating in the destination as part of Blount’s classical Maine and north east cruise.
