Heathrow Airport came in eighth in a list of the world’s best airports in 2019, compiled by Skytrax. Munich Airport in Germany came in one position before Heathrow Airport and is ranked the best airport in Europe.
Asian Airports scooped top positions with Singapore Changi coming in first and Hanenda, Tokyo following, Incheon, Seoul came in third. No US airport was in the top 10.
The survey involved more than 13million passengers globally. The respondents were asked to rate the airports using different data points such as check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, and security and immigration.
Singapore will next month launch Jewel Changi Airport, a mixed-used development featuring gardens and attractions, a hotel, aviation facilities and 300 retail and dining facilities. CNBC reported.
Skytrax’s CEO, Edward Plaidsted, said the new launch would add another “unique dimension” to Singapore’s leading position.
“To be voted the world’s best airport for the seventh consecutive year is a truly fabulous achievement for Changi Airport,” said Plaisted.
“The opening of the Jewel Changi Airport in April 2019 looks set to add another unique dimension to the experience for Changi Airport customers.”
