With all of the current turmoil of the referendum outcome and air traffic control strikes, what you can do to minimize some of your travel stress?
First, get comprehensive insurance, not the cheap one that covers very basic things, get the expensive one that will reschedule your flights, cover your lost luggage, related expenses, and possibly help you rebook your trip if necessary.
Second, if you can, try to purchase flight tickets that can be changed or reimbursed, so if a flight is canceled you have the flexibility to change your plans if required to do so. It is also easier to get a refund if this is the case as well. If your flight is canceled due to something like a strike, you are likely to be reimbursed anyway.
And lastly, make sure you know what the policies for your airline are with regard to cancellations, delays, etc. Many passengers don’t know their rights and are entitled to a refund or some sort of compensation when it comes to travel issues related to weather, strikes, or mechanical failure.
If you keep these things in mind, and have insurance, even if your holiday runs into any snafus, you will feel calm and in control as you know you have done everything you can to reduce the stress related to things beyond your control.
