Woman Arrested by Counter terror police at Heathrow Airport

The police arrested two women on Wednesday, January 16. One of the women aged 26, was arrested at Heathrow Airport just before she boarded a flight to Istanbul, Turkey. She is said to have been in possession of large sums of money. That morning the woman was found on terminal 5 of the airport waiting for departure. The police said they made the arrest based on a tip off they had received earlier. The money was seized before she was taken into police custody.

The other arrest was made in the afternoon at a residential house in North West London. The counter terrorism police surrounded the place in which they had been given the address. They found and arrested a lady aged 27. She too was a suspect of terror related crimes. Teams of police searched the house while she was taken into police custody in the capital.

The police confirmed that the two ladies were British but they were not related in any way. He stated that both women were arrested on terror related suspicion. He added that they will be questioned by officers before investigations begin. He said that they suspect that both women were either planning or preparing for acts of terror.

He refused to give more information saying that the investigation was still in its early stages. He said they would share any information once they have concrete evidence against the two women.
