Glasgow ranked highest in security queues

Passengers from Glasgow are enjoying the fastest services at the security queues compared to all other airports in the UK. The airport security screening process was rated by the passengers as the highest when compared to other airports.  This includes their rivals, Heathrow, the third busiest airport in the world. This information was provided by the officials at the Civil Aviation Authority through a detailed security survey which was conducted in the airports.

This exercise involved scrutiny of five other airports including Stansted, Gatwick, Luton, Edinburgh and Manchester. According to the survey, passengers flying out of Glasgow waited in the queue for 3.3 minutes, while at Edinburgh they waited for over six minutes. Those at Stansted kept waiting up to nine minutes. There were very few complaints in Glasgow from passengers having waited over ten minutes unlike passengers in other airports who did not regard ten minutes as having waited long. The survey had 27,000 passengers interviewed at the seven airports during the last year.

Seven years ago, there was a terrorist attack at Glasgow which led them to put more effort in improving their security measures. The airport spent millions of pounds in putting up proper security with a security hub being opened a year later.

Since the attack, people have been required to pass through a security check hall for screening before leaving. The time taken mostly depends on the amount of luggage and whether one needs to remove their jackets and other items such as belts and shoes. This, however, takes a short time.

The operations manager at Glasgow said they were committed to having a significant improvement on the quality of facilities they used to ensure maximum safety for their passengers. The improvement has seen so many passengers choose to travel from Glasgow airport and the number is expected to increase further.
