Weather Warning for Fog Issued for Parts of England

The Met office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog for parts of the East Midlands, Suffolk, South East and South West.

The severe weather warning means there may be delays and cancellations in airports, bus and rails stations.

The Met Office warned: “Areas of dense fog are expected this morning, especially over higher routes.

“The fog is expected to continue through the morning travel period before clearing later this morning.”

At 6:03am today, the Met office tweeted: “A yellow severe weather warning for #fog has been issued. http://bit.ly/WxWarning  Stay #weatheraware @metofficeuk.”

The warning was issued overnight and is expected stay on until Friday 10:00am. Drivers have been told to be aware of low visibility on roads.

Met Office Meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: “Across central and southeastern areas there will low cloud, mist and in the higher ground in particular, there will be some visibility issues.

“On the south-east coast it won’t feel very warm at all due to the onshore breeze and quite a lot of mist.”

Towards the afternoon, the cloud will fizzle out leaving warmer temperatures in some areas of England. The warm temperatures are being attributed to warm winds coming off Canary Islands.

Forecaster Steven Keats said London temperatures are expected to reach 15C over Saturday and Sunday.

“A bit of sunshine does help as well,” Mr Keats said. “It’s starting to get a bit of strength now compared to middle of winter.”
