Ryanair to make the ‘myRyanair’ App Compulsory for Booking Flights

You may have no option but to sign up for the ‘myRyanair’ app in the future if you’re to travel on the low cost airline, Ryanair.

Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary said: “Maybe next year, we won’t allow you to make a booking online unless you join up for our myRyanair programme.”

“If you flew five times with us last year, you’ll get an even bigger incentive to fly with us six times this year,” he added.

Seeing as over 11 million flyers have already signed up for the app voluntarily, it looks like most people see nothing wrong with the requirement. Not everybody likes the idea of being made to do things, but hey, we want to travel low cost.

The purpose of the app is to create a personalized flying experience and do away with cash or debit cards on the flight. With the app, you will be able to purchase your own extras, such as coffee and snacks, you will be eligible for parking discounts based on your traveling style, and the app will save your passport and payment details, saving you the time and hassle it would take to book everything online.

In theory, it does seem a delight, and by the overwhelming response it is quite popular. If the airline is willing to do so much for passengers in an effort to improve their journey with them, then one can only oblige. Maybe should give it an honest effort and see what happens. After all, according to Michael O’Leary, this type of booking is the wave of the future, and it does seem to be so as we become more attached and dependent on our digital lives.
