Only One UK Airline Made Top 10 of the World’s Best Airlines

Virgin Atlantic topped the ranking of top 5 UK airlines in a recent assessment carried out by AirHelp, a flight delays compensation company. Ranking was based on punctuality, quality and speed of dealing with compensation claims. British Airways was second, while FlyBe and Jet2.com were third and fourth consecutively. Low-cost airline and Britain’s largest carrier EasyJet was at the bottom of the rank.

However, AirHelp also compared 78 airlines around the globe and 5 from the UK to determine the best worldwide. Qatar Airways was first in global ranking; Italy’s Air Dolomiti came in second, followed by Austrian Airlines, Singapore Airlines and KLM.

The Top World’s Top 10 Best Airlines:

1.    Qatar Airways - 8.7
2.    Air Dolomiti - 8.5
3.    Austrian Airlines - 8.5
4.    Singapore Airlines - 8.4
5.    KLM - 8.3
6.    Virgin Atlantic - 8.2
7.    Air Baltic - 8.1
8.    Cathay Pacific - 8.1
9.    Air Canada - 8.1
10.    Finnair - 8

Virgin Atlantic was sixth, being the only British airline that featured in the top10 internationally while British Airways came in 14th .FlyBe only managed 21st,   while Jet2.com was 35th, Ryanair 48th and EasyJet a further 62nd

Data used to create the ranking was sourced from various aviation databases including the Civil Aviation Authority, for on-time performance; airlines’ own database statistics on handling of compensation claims for flight delays as well as quality ratings by Skytrax, the annual airline review service.

AirHelp noted that Virgin Atlantic was the only British airline that improved its score since the last assessment conducted six months ago.

AirHelp CEO Henrik Zilmer said: “As passengers worldwide see customer service being diminished by many major airlines, they are instead being driven to choose carriers that offer more than just a seat from A to B.”
