At the end of the contract in 2016 depending on their performance, Heathrow airport can extend the contact by another two years. This extension will require an additional of up to £70 Million. Balfour Beatty is not new to Heathrow as the company has in the past done business with the airport. It has in fact delivered infrastructural support for terminal five facilities.

The company assured Heathrow that it will bring its significant expertise and experience making the framework successful. Balfour Beatty will deal with design Engineering, construction details. It will also bring in building information modelling which will provide 4D samples for the airport to choose from. Mechanical and Electrical specification swill also be taken care of by the company. Before this new agreement, Balfour Beatty was already dealing with a part of terminal 2 that is worth £590 Million.

Other projects will include improvements on structures like escalators and lifts. Air conditioning, CCTV cameras and other security systems will also be covered in the improvement and replacement phase. They will be renovating the retail areas of the said terminals.
