Looking for the perfect holiday location? Go to Happy Valley!

Choosing the right destination for that all-important family holiday can be a bit of a headache sometimes; it’s got to have something for everyone, including the four-legged members at times!  But it seems that there is one county in the UK that has everything you are looking for, whether it’s an active or non-active holiday you are looking!

We are talking picture-postcard beaches and scenic coast paths; quaint, fairy-story fishing villages and hamlets; an endless choice of pubs, accommodation and restaurants that are infinitely dog-friendly; an abundance of activities for all ages, and all capabilities; and countryside to die for!

Guessed where we are yet?  Of course, it’s Cornwall!  This typically English, often dismissed, county has so much to offer, and possibly more than any destination abroad in terms of ‘ticking the right holiday boxes’ for every family member.  For example, slowly make your way down a country lane with grass growing along the middle and you’ll come upon a hamlet of 46 self-catering holiday homes surrounded by 13 acres of ground, and the added benefit of an on-site restaurant, the Café Azur, that serves melt-in the-mouth, home-from-home delicious homemade food.

There’s the expected indoor and outdoor pools, and the tennis court; then there’s the squash courts, the mini gym (although why you’d want to continue the gruelling workout when you’re on holiday I don’t know!), a spa (the luxury!) and a games room.  But with all that on hand and you still don’t know what to do, have no fear; every morning a newsletter will land on your doorstep with so many suggestions of what to do, places to visit and interesting locations, all based around that day’s weather forecast, you will literally be spoilt for choice!  A cycle ride will take you further afield; then there’s the King Harry vehicle ferry that takes you across the Fal River, between Feock and Philleigh (that avoids a 27 mile car journey!), which delivers you to one of the most beautiful, unspoilt places in the British Isles, the Roseland peninsula.  Or why not leave the car behind and get a Fal Mussel Card, allowing you to get on and off ferries, trains and buses along the waterway route?

Then there’s the sanctuary, the UK national rescue centre for seals where they rescue, rehabilitate and release injured animals; you could even ‘adopt’ one of their residents, from a seal to a goat!  And if you’re into pirates, then don’t forget the Lizard Peninsula, Kennack Sands and Coverack – watch the tide go out and you could well spot the remains of a shipwreck or two!

With Cornwall being crowned the most child-friendly holiday destination in the world – beating Florida’s Disney World, no less! – isn’t it time you started to seriously consider Cornwall as your holiday destination?
