About Bristol

A strong sense of maritime past pervades the premier city in southwest England, where a huge millennium facelift has created tree-lined avenues and trned Queen Square into a traffic free haven.

Bristol was a leeding port and commercial hub from the 12th century, and from the 15th to 18th centuries it was England’s second city after London. Maritime wealth endowed it with the imposing churches, notably the late 13th century St Marry Radcliffe and eclectic cathedral, with a Norman chapter house.
